Silently, Daesh advancing toward the Rebel-held areas in Eastern Qalamoun after they were able at the end of April and the beginning of May to expel Rebels from both of al-‘Ulayyaniyah and Muhassah areas, and the mounts around al-Qaryatayn city.

Huge advances by Daesh (Islamic State organization) in the Syrian desert in the past 2 weeks, taking control of several villages and oil/gas fields, in addition to the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), which is located in a strategic area connecting all the roads in the center of Syria.

The fall of Palmyra (Tadmur) is now a big threat to the Rebel-held areas in Eastern Qalamoun, since it is the most important area for Rebels near the besieged Eastern Ghouta.
