InfoGraphic: Sham Legion | Armed faction in Syria

Sham Legion (called Faylaq al-Sham in Arabic); Syrian Opposition faction linked to the Free Syrian Army. Sham Legion was formed in March 10, 2016, in Idlib province.

The faction is very well equipped, and it has large number of tanks compared to other armed Opposition factions in Syria. It is active in Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Latakia and Homs provinces, with a size of more than 7,000 fighters.

The military commander of Sham Legion is Maj. Yaser Abdulrahim, an officer who defected from the Syrian Army at the beginning of the the revolutionary war in Syria against Assad Baathism Regime. Maj. Yaser Abdulrahim is also the top commander of Fatah Halab coalition; a military coalition of the Free Syrian Army factions in Aleppo.
