Idlib Free Army (also called Jaysh Idlib al-Hurr in Arabic – جيش إدلب الحر), a Syrian Opposition faction affiliated to the Free Syrian Army. It was formed in September 22, 2016, by merging between 3 factions; the Northern Division, the 13th Division and Sokoor Al-Jabal Brigade.

The faction is led by Cpt. Hasan Haj Ali, a Syrian Army defected officer who formed Sokoor Al-Jabal Brigade before merging with other factions to form Idlib Free Army. The faction has large number of defected officers, and it has a political wing with strong foreign relations with GCC, Turkey and Europe. It has more than 6,000 fighters, active in Aleppo, Idlib, Hama and Latakia provinces, and it is one of the factions who also got TOW ATGM.

Idlib Free Army (as a factions before and after merging) was involved in battles against:

  • Regime+allies (Hezbollah & IRGC)
  • YPG (PKK-linked Kurdish faction)
  • ISIS (Daesh).

In April 2016, YPG killed one of their top military commanders, Lt. Col. Abdulkarim Yahya, who was the leader of the Northern Division faction, during the joint Regime+YPG offensive on Castello Rd in the northern outskirts of Aleppo city.
